Apparently, we saved the best for last. Garvin County Park easily had the best riding of all the places we stayed in Minnesota.
For $20/night, we got electric with shared water. The water faucets were easy to access, set up next to the wooden corrals. There are pairs of corrals set up throughout the campground - corrals are first come, first served. There are also high lines and you can put up temporary fencing as well. The campground was packed with a party atmosphere when we arrived on a Sunday morning. Everyone was in a good mood and happy with their horses. By Monday morning, we were the last ones in the campground.
There are about 18 miles of trails, with the trails interlooping over and over. Trails have signage, but we still recommend using Gaia or similar app to keep track of where you are.
The trails are lovely - through forest and pastures. Intermediate level with water crossings, up and down hills, through brush, and on narrow ridges in spots.
Sunset in Minnesota - the campground was peaceful and just lovely.
Joel and Mari stopped by on Sunday (with their little dog too!) and we had a lovely reunion. We rented a spot from Joel and Mari our first winter in San Tan Valley, Arizona back in 2020. They have since sold that property and purchased another property in Arizona where they plan to spend their winters. They currently live in South Dakota. I love that they put goggles on their pup to protect her eyes as they ride their motorcycle.
