Google maps is incorrect. I used satellite imagery to help me figure out where the horse camp is actually located.
This campsite is first come, first served and only $20/night. There is an RV dump at the entrance. There are shared water faucets sprinkled about the camp and a mounting ramp for wheelchair users is available. Winegard and cell service is good.
We were the only ones in the campground the entire time. So, we picked a campsite next to a water faucet and hooked up our electrical and water.
There are high line posts available, but we set up our corral.
Temperatures were hitting 110 Heat Index. There is a massive heat wave going through the mid-West right now. So, we didn’t do more than one ride and we rode before 9 am. There are about 25 miles of trails, a mix of forest and pasture. Trails are not well marked, but we managed. A few water crossings, but for the most part, it is easy riding. Bloomington, Illinois is about 20 minutes away. Holiday Park has a public pool, so we visited the pool both days of our stay. Too hot to do any walking tours.
This little fellow hung around our campsite. I think he was interested in the horse’s food.
