We picked this location because we were looking for some place we could rendezvous with our oldest son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. We booked them into the Timber Ridge Lodge and Resort in nearby Lake Geneva.
This place is similar to the Wolf Lodge franchise. It is geared towards families with an indoor water park. It was the perfect choice for a family stay with an active nine year old boy. Zane spent every day playing in the water park area as well as the arcade.
While Zane and his family enjoyed luxury accommodations, our horses were back in horsey jail. They were in small 10 ft by 12 ft cells. But with temperatures in the 90’s and 100’s, they didn’t seem too mind too much because the stables were cool and shady.
On one of the hotter days, Zane helped us hose down the horses.
During the weekend, there was a carriage driving competition, so there were lots of horses and equestrians. I enjoyed seeing the riding habits and the horses all decked out and pretty.
Lennox enjoyed watching the carriages go by when we turned the horses out in the covered arena.
Our campsite was on the far end of the fairgrounds about as far from the horses as we could be. We had water and electric hook-up, but the WIFI didn’t reach to this area. Our cell phones and Winegard worked fine. It was a pretty campsite and nicer than most fairgrounds.
The administration for the campgrounds is not well organized and doesn’t really know how to manage equestrian campers that are not part of an event. There is not a lot of signage to tell you where to go or how to find things. No shower house, but there are public restrooms. There is an RV dump, but no sign indicating where it is. We needed a maintenance man to show us how to find it.
